Equal Opportunities & Inclusion Policy

We exist to open doors for people without a track record yet. That only works if the door opens equally for everyone.

Our commitment

We treat all candidates and clients fairly regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation, and we will not accept instructions that discriminate on those grounds.

How this shows up in our process

  • Skills over pedigree: self-taught developers are assessed on the same footing as degree holders.
  • Published salary ranges on every role we advertise, so pay is not set by negotiation confidence.
  • Structured, consistent screening questions for every candidate on a shortlist.
  • Reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process — just tell us what you need.
  • Feedback offered to every candidate who reaches interview stage.

Working with clients

We challenge job requirements that screen out capable early-career people without good reason, such as unnecessary years-of-experience minimums or unpaid trial work, and we will step away from a mandate where a client insists on discriminatory criteria.

Concerns

If you feel you have been treated unfairly by us or by an employer we introduced you to, email kuda@blockstartrecruitment.com. We investigate every complaint and respond within ten working days.
