Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

Recruiting early-career people means recruiting people who are easier to exploit. We take that responsibility seriously. This statement sets out the steps we take to make sure modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or supply chain.

Our business

BlockStart Recruitment places university graduates, self-taught developers and career switchers into permanent and contract roles with crypto, blockchain and Web3 employers, primarily in the UK, EU and remote-first companies.

Our commitment

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, debt bondage, child labour and human trafficking in any form, consistent with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Steps we take

  • We never charge candidates a fee to find work, register with us or be introduced to an employer.
  • We verify the identity and right to work of every candidate we place, and confirm each is working freely and voluntarily.
  • We check that client employers offer lawful pay, contracted hours and written terms before we advertise their roles.
  • We decline mandates where pay, working conditions or recruitment practices raise concerns and cannot be resolved.
  • Consultants receive annual training on spotting the indicators of labour exploitation and trafficking.
  • We assess suppliers and partners for labour standards and expect equivalent commitments from them.

Raising a concern

Anyone — candidate, client, supplier or member of staff — can raise a concern in confidence at kuda@blockstartrecruitment.com. Concerns are investigated promptly, and no one will be penalised for reporting in good faith. Where appropriate we report to the police or the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority.

Review

This statement is reviewed and approved by the directors annually and relates to the current financial year.
